Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

Mitram ("we", "us") provides a chat platform with servers, channels, direct messages, voice and video calls. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

1. Account registration

When you create an account we store your email address, a unique username, an optional display name, and a securely hashed password. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.

2. Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile (name, email, avatar) from Google and store it to create your Mitram profile. We do not access your Google contacts, drive or any other Google data.

3. Profile information

Your profile may include a display name, username, avatar, banner image, bio, badges and online status. This information is visible to other Mitram users who share a server or DM with you.

4. Messages, calls & content

Direct messages, channel messages, reactions, voice and video call signaling data are stored to deliver the service. Call audio and video are streamed peer-to-peer via WebRTC and are not recorded by Mitram.

5. Servers & memberships

Servers you create or join, your role assignments, invites and channel data are stored so the platform can operate. Server owners and admins can see member lists and manage roles.

6. File uploads

Images, videos, audio and other files you upload are stored in secure object storage and only accessible via signed URLs to authorized chat participants. Maximum file sizes are enforced.

7. Notifications

We generate in-app notifications for mentions, direct messages and missed calls. We do not sell or share notification content with third parties.

8. Data storage & security

Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit (HTTPS/WSS) and at rest. Row-level security policies ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share users' personal information with third parties for advertising purposes. Limited data may be processed by infrastructure providers (hosting, storage, delivery) strictly to operate the service.

10. Permissions

Mitram requests device permissions only when required for a feature, and always with your consent. You can grant or revoke each permission from your device or browser settings at any time.

  • Camera — video calls, profile photos, profile banners.
  • Microphone — voice calls, video calls, voice messages.
  • Photos / Storage — media uploads, profile photos, profile banners, chat backgrounds.
  • Notifications — message, mention, and call alerts.

11. Data retention

Chat content waiting for delivery is held temporarily and becomes eligible for deletion after every active recipient device confirms local storage. Direct chat transfers require approval on both authenticated devices and are not kept as a separate cloud backup. Account, safety, and transaction records may be retained where needed to operate Mitram, prevent fraud, or comply with legal obligations.

12. Account deletion

You can request account deletion from Settings or by contacting support. Deletion removes your profile, messages and uploaded files, subject to the retention window above.

13. Contact
